Logline:
In the year 2253 everyone suppress all emotions as they communicate over a monitored network via devices implanted in their brains and order goods from AI robots who’ve provided services for so long people have forgotten how to provide for themselves. A police detective discovers the robots will soon fail and the human race will starve into extinction as he fights the world leaders who cover up the truth to stay in power.
The Story:
Eurasian Police detective GEORGE CHEN lives in a future world where the artificial intelligence corporations have merged and one and replaced all world governments. A BOARD OF DIRECTORS rules with tyranny through CENTRAL CONTROL, a massive AI that runs The Connection, a world-wide network every human being on Earth is linked to through devices embedded in their brains.
Artificial intelligent robots produce everything including entertainment and food. People have forgotten how to make anything. They place orders over The Connection. AI robots create cerbdramas and virtual meeting places. The brain links that override people’s senses so they experience the digital worlds as Physical. No one leaves their government assigned apartments. They use The Connection. Yet everyone suppresses dissent and emotions. Central Control is always listening. Those deemed subversives disappear.
George discovers the AI robots are decaying and will soon fail. When they do, the human race will starve into extinction because no one knows how to grow food. The directors hide this to stay in power, break George’s link and condemn him to a caverns so he can’t tell the truth. He escapes and joins a resistance movement of others whose links were also broken. They search the world for lost knowledge to train people how to survive before the robots fail, but it’s scattered and there are too few pieces for them to carry out their mission. All the while, agents of the directors hunt them to exterminate the resistance.
George must reconnect with his suppressed emotions to work with others and is attracted to a resistance member named KATE WILSON who still holds her feelings behind a wall and despises George.
When George and Kate crash in a wilderness on a mission to find a rumored ultimate storehouse of knowledge that can save the world, they must learn forgotten survival skills from books they find in an abandoned cabin as their relationship grows closer and they fall in love, a forbidden emotion, and navigate a romantic relationship nether has ever experienced.
